IU-centric content, curated experiences, discounts, and a number of core services help members stay connected to IU and one another. All active members are eligible to receive core services.
Core service accounts
Three core services require accounts: MyIU.org, the Virtual Alumni Network, and your personal IU alumni email account.
You can create all your core service accounts through IUAA member services.
You can access all core services through the IUAA Member Hub at MyIU.org.
You won't lose your MyIU.org account or your Alumni email account if your member status lapses. However, your Virtual Alumni Network account will be suspended 90 days after your member status lapses. For more information, read the Virtual Alumni Network FAQs on this page and read the IUAA Member IT Services policy.
Alumni email accounts
You can create your alumni email account through IUAA member services. You can then access your account at mail.alumni.iu.edu or through the IUAA Member Hub.
A change in member status will not affect your Alumni email account. However, accounts that have never been signed into for 12 months may be de-provisioned and accounts that have not been signed into for 24 months may be deleted without notice.
For more information, read the IUAA Member IT Services policy.
Alumni email addresses look a little different than student addresses. The domain is different: yourusername@alumni.iu.edu instead of yourusername@iu.edu. When you create your account, you may request the same username you had as a student. If you currently have an active IU email address, you can forward your IU email to your new alumni email account.
After 9/30/2022, alumni email will be limited to 5GB storage, and additional Google services will be removed.
Virtual Alumni Network accounts
You can create your Virtual Alumni Network account through IUAA member services. You can then access your account at community.alumni.iu.edu or through the IUAA Member Hub.
If your member status lapses, your Virtual Alumni Network account will be suspended 90 days after your member status lapses. We won’t delete your account until one year after your suspended date. That means you can regain access to all IUAA core services if you renew (at any level) within one year.
My IU accounts
You can create a My IU account using the new user registration form at MyIU.org.
All IUAA members have access to exclusive MyIU content, including the online IU Alumni Magazine, the Alumni Directory, and the Member Hub, through which all IUAA core services are accessed.
Your My IU account will not be deleted even if your member status lapses. However, you will lose access to member-only content, such as the IUAA Member Hub, the Alumni Directory, and the online IU Alumni Magazine. You will regain access to these IUAA core services upon renewing.
Read the fine print
IUAA Member IT Services are offered to active IUAA members, and they act as a means of engagement. Read more about how to use (and not use) services in the Member IT Services policy.
