Southern Africa Odyssey

Roam the Namib Desert—home to some of the world’s tallest sand dunes

Explore South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Namibia on this 18-day adventure filled with life-changing experiences.

Johannesburg, the “City of Gold,” provides the starting point for your tour through the southernmost parts of Africa. Visit Nelson Mandela’s home and tour the moving Hector Pieterson Museum, which honors those lost in the struggle to end apartheid.

Once in Zimbabwe, enjoy three nights in a historic hotel near spectacular Victoria Falls. While here, you’ll visit a local school and cruise the riverways at sunset. Looking for a thrill? Take a dip in Devil’s Pool just steps from the edge of the gushing falls.

In Botswana, embark on a rhino safari and a full-day excursion in the Chobe National Park, which boasts one of Africa’s largest concentrations of wildlife.

Next up Namibia. Explore the colonial architecture of Christ Church and stroll among the palm trees in Parliament Gardens.

More dramatic landscapes await you in the vast Namib Desert, home to some of the world’s tallest sand dunes. Revel in the adrenaline of quad-biking and sand-boarding down the dunes, or roam the desert the traditional way—on camelback.

Returning to South Africa, your trips concludes in Cape Town. Take in the electrifying colors of the Bo-Kaap neighborhood homes, watch penguins waddle across Boulders Beach, and summit Table Mountain via cable car.
