Since 1953, IU’s Distinguished Alumni Service Award recipients—collectively known as the DASA Club—have donated more than $2 million in support of scholarships to deserving IU students.

The DASA Club Scholarship is awarded to seniors from each IU campus who demonstrate a financial need and high academic achievement. There is no application process for the DASA Club Scholarship or the other specialty DASA-related scholarships. Recipients are selected through a nomination process and notified of their selection via an email and letter from the Scholarship Selection Committee.

Those selected to receive DASA Club scholarships are eligible for additional awards. The Dr. Norman Hertzer Scholarship is awarded to a pre-med student on the Bloomington campus. The Talbot Advocacy Scholarship is awarded to a student from any campus dedicated to the field of education. The Major General Joseph O. Butcher Award is given to the student with the highest grade point average.

To learn more about the DASA club, please contact Rebecca Keith at rekeith@iu.edu or 812-855-1713.

These scholarships are awarded to students based on any IU campus based upon their academics, career goals, financial need, leadership, community service, and extracurricular activities, with consideration for involvement in activities raising awareness of LGBTQ+ issues.
