We help to make that wish a reality by offering a variety of scholarships to IU students. Check out the list below to find the right scholarship opportunities for you or consider a 529 college savings plan.
You can apply for the majority of IUAA scholarships through the online scholarship application at One.IU. Simply search for “scholarships” and apply to your admitted campus. The application takes about 15 minutes to complete and automatically submits your application to many of the scholarships we offer. While there may be an additional question for you to answer, you’ll be automatically considered for all of the scholarship programs that your criteria matches.
The open and close dates for the scholarship application are October 1 – March 10 for each campus.
Children of IUAA Life members, staff, and chapter leaders are eligible to apply for a variety of IUAA scholarships. You're also eligible to apply if you are a student leader.
Our IU Collegiate License Plate Program isn’t just a great way to show off our school spirit. It's the funding source for the IUAA Scholars program, which awards $1,000 to more than 30 students each year.
If you are the son or daughter of an IU Alumni Association life member, you’re eligible!
The scholarships are awarded to in-state freshmen through graduate students at any IU campus.
They’re awarded on the basis of financial need and academic achievement as determined by the Office of Student Enrollment Services. Preference is given to first-time recipients.

If you are the child or grandchild of an IU Alumni Association staff member, a student leader of an IUAA-sponsored organization, or an IUAA student employee, you are eligible to receive the Linsmith Scholarship.
Selection is based upon outstanding character, financial need, and academic achievement.
The Linsmith Scholarship was established by Jo Ann Linsmith, BS’72, of Bradenton, Fla., who died in 2009. She and her husband, the late Charles Linsmith, MS’64, served IU as devoted alumni. Jo Ann helped found and served as president of the former IU Alumni Club of Sarasota and Manatee Counties (Fla.), which is now the Florida Suncoast Chapter of the IUAA. She served on the IUAA Executive Council and received the IUAA President’s Award in 2000. Through the Linsmith Scholarship, she wished to recognize the service and devotion of the Association’s staff members and students.

Each year, a child of an alumni chapter leader—who currently serves as an officer or board member—receives this $1,500 scholarship. To qualify, you must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student on any of the IU campuses.
The Foster Scholarship was established in memory of Jerry Foster, BS’74, who served as IUAA’s alumni chapter director. Jerry died in December 1992, but through this scholarship, his connection with IUAA’s chapters continues.
The scholarship is awarded based on academic achievement and financial need as determined by the IUAA Scholarship Committee. Preference is given to first-time recipients of the scholarship.

Sometimes, you can get a scholarship just for attending a specific campus! These scholarships are supported by alumni groups from a particular IU campus.
To qualify for this scholarship, you must be an IU East student with a family member who is an IU East alum.
You must be enrolled in six to twelve credit hours per semester with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. If you’re an incoming freshman, your high school grade point average will be used.
To apply, you must submit a statement describing your future plans and why you should receive this scholarship, and a letter of recommendation from an Indiana University alumnus to the Director of Alumni Relations at IU East.
The number, amount, and recipients of the scholarship will be determined by the Scholarship Committee of Indiana University East, in consultation with a representative of the IU East Alumni Association.
Each year, one full-time or part-time student who attained/maintains a GPA of 2.5 is awarded a $1,000 renewable scholarship.
Preference is given to relatives of current or former IUEAA board members. It may be awarded to a first-time or returning student.
To apply, you must submit a letter of recommendation from an IU East Alumni Association current or former board member to the Director of Alumni Relations at IU East.
This scholarship was established to honor Bette G. Davenport, who served as the IU East Director of Alumni Relations until July 2004.
Each year, two scholarships are awarded; $1,000 for a first year student and $1,000 for a returning student.
To be eligible, you must be a child or grandchild of an alumnus or alumna of Indiana University East. To apply, you must submit a letter of recommendation from the alumnus or alumna to the Director of Alumni Relations.
The purposes of the scholarship are to help ease the strain of college expenses, reward an accomplished student, and recognize legacy families for continuing the IU East tradition.

The IU Kokomo Alumni Association awards scholarships to current and incoming students each year. Preference is given to students who are related to an IU Kokomo alumnus or alumna.
To qualify, you must submit a letter of reference from an IU Kokomo alumnus or alumna or faculty or staff member.

Applicants must also be residents of either Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Jasper, Newton, or Starke county.
Preference will be given to students with a 3.0 or higher GPA.
IU Columbus Alumni Association Scholarship
To be considered, you must be a degree-seeking undergraduate student at IU Columbus, have a minimum 2.5 GPA, minimum of 12 credit hours per semester, provide a recommendation letter from faculty/staff member, list involvement in community and campus, and provide an essay answering the following questions:
The scholarship amount, number of scholarships and names of recipients will be determined by the Donor Funded Scholarship Committee of IU Columbus, in consultation with a representative of the IU Columbus Alumni Association.
The IU Indianapolis Regatta Scholarship is named in honor of Stefan Scott Davis, the executive director of the IU Indianapolis Office of Alumni Relations and senior executive with the IU Alumni Association from 1994–2015.
Under Stefan’s leadership and nurturing, the IU Indianapolis Regatta was established in 2009 as a signature program of both the IU Indianapolis campus and the IU Alumni Association, and it quickly grew to become a campus tradition.
This annual scholarship program recognizes Stefan’s long and dedicated service to the campus, the University, and IU Indianapolis’s growing alumni community, and should serve as an example to those who receive support for the role they will play as dedicated IU Indianapolis alumni.
Students serving on the Regatta Steering Committee are eligible for this scholarship if they are a full-time or part-time undergraduate, graduate, or professional student in good standing at IU Indianapolis. Students must have completed at least 26 hours and maintained at least a 3.0 GPA.

Each year, the IU South Bend Alumni Association awards ten $5,000 scholarships to incoming freshmen who meet Honors Program criteria.

This $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to an incoming or current student who has been out of high school for at least three years when first admitted to IU South Bend. We all have a special place in our hearts for the schools we attended while at IU. Some alumni groups have even established scholarships for students studying at the same places.
Each year, four $5,000 scholarships are awarded to entering 1L students. These scholarships can be renewed annually for students who maintain satisfactory academic performance.

Awarded to undergraduate students enrolled in the School of Liberal Arts at IU Indianapolis with at least 30 credit hours completed and a minimum GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale. Applicants must be actively involved in student organizations with preference given to involvement in those sponsored by the school. Applicants must submit an essay (maximum 500 words) describing their involvement and how it advances the liberal arts values of global citizenship, public dialogue, and community collaboration.
One $200 award goes to an undergraduate student based on community involvement and extracurricular activities.
Two $200 scholarships are awarded each year. One goes to a student in either the traditional BSN program or the accelerated BSN program, the other to a MSN student. Both awards are based on academic achievement.
This $200 scholarship is awarded to a Ph.D. candidate in the IU School of Nursing.

Each year, four $1,000 scholarships are awarded to O’Neill School graduate and undergraduate students, two from IU Bloomington and 2 from IU Indianapolis. Students must demonstrate academic success, public and community service, and extracurricular activities.

Awarded to undergraduate and graduate students from Johnson County, Ind., attending any IU campus.
Awarded to students from the Kentuckiana region.
Awarded to undergraduate and graduate students who reside in Lake, Porter, Jasper, or Newton counties in Indiana. Multiple scholarships are awarded to students attending or planning to attend IU Bloomington, one is designated for IU Northwest, and other scholarships are open to students attending any IU campus.

Since 1953, IU’s Distinguished Alumni Service Award recipients—collectively known as the DASA Club—have donated more than $2 million in support of scholarships to deserving IU students.
The DASA Club Scholarship is awarded to seniors from each IU campus who demonstrate a financial need and high academic achievement. There is no application process for the DASA Club Scholarship or the other specialty DASA-related scholarships. Recipients are selected through a nomination process and notified of their selection via an email and letter from the Scholarship Selection Committee.
Those selected to receive DASA Club scholarships are eligible for additional awards. The Dr. Norman Hertzer Scholarship is awarded to a pre-med student on the Bloomington campus. The Talbot Advocacy Scholarship is awarded to a student from any campus dedicated to the field of education. The Major General Joseph O. Butcher Award is given to the student with the highest grade point average.

These scholarships are awarded to students based on any IU campus based upon their academics, career goals, financial need, leadership, community service, and extracurricular activities, with consideration for involvement in activities promoting resilience, understanding, and belonging for all.
This scholarship is designed to ensure students don’t have to choose between their education and living openly. It provides up to $3,000 per semester for either the fall or spring, with no application deadline. Incomplete applications may be rejected, and students can receive the scholarship up to two times.
The LGBTQ+ Emergency Scholarship is not currently available. However, emergency funding is still available. Apply for emergency funds specific to your IU campus.
