IU Travels
Grand Danube Passage
Voice:
These past two weeks we've traveled through much of Eastern Europe. Particularly, ah, South Eastern Europe.
Tour guide:
You were able to walk through the streets, and get your first glimpse of stuff.
Voice:
It seems like we've been seeing a part of the world a lot of people are not that familiar with.
Voice:
It would be very hard for me to say the most memorable moment of the trip.
Voice:
The pristine villages and the mountains, the vineyards, you know, it's just been an incredible experience.
Voice:
I, I guess I have an appreciation for the people that I've met, that we've met, along the way.
Voice:
Everyday the guides had arranged worthwhile interesting opportunities.
Voice:
Several of the talks of this trip they provided the opportunity for you to learn about the politics, the economics of the different areas. Education opens up your world.
Voice:
You read about something to see and do and then you go and experience it on a tour. It just brings it all to life.
Voice:
The Amadeus Silver has been an incredibly comfortable boat, living quarters, for the last two weeks.
Voice:
We can literally travel hundreds of miles and see a lot of territory and scenery and never have left our room.
Voice:
The food was phenomenal. Uh, the accommodations were great on the boat. Virtually the whole time there was something to take a picture of, something to see, something to look at, and that that uh, caught my attention. I enjoyed being on this trip with a bunch of people who were very well educated.
Voice:
I heard good things about the IU Alumni Association Tours. I have had friends who have gone on them and recommended and them highly. But, you have, you do feel a certain sense commonality.
Voice:
Being able to share, compare, and contrast, being with other people who have had a fair amount education. That looked at the world differently.
Voice:
We shared our reactions to the day, and what we've seen and what we've done. Because you can read about things, but until you actually are in the midst of the culture and people you really can't understand. You have to be there, and that's more of an education than reading about it.
