Planning a Trip

Be prepared for whatever journey comes next

Here, you’ll find answers to a few frequently asked questions that will assist you in planning your next IU Travels trip with confidence.

We strongly encourage purchasing travel insurance in case of injury or illness before or during your trip. Most U.S. medical plans, including Medicare, don’t cover international health care costs. Get more information about travel insurance.

We recommend using the following resources:

U.S. Department of State

Travel advisories

U.S. Department of Homeland Security

Trusted Traveler Programs

U.S. Central Intelligence Agency

The World Factbook

Our travel partners have varying cancellation policies. Please review these policies before booking. Should you need to cancel your trip, please contact the company with whom you booked your trip. The IU Travels team is happy to assist in this process, should you need it.

Trip prices are per person, based on double occupancy. Airfare is not included unless specified. You can purchase your flight through our tour company or make arrangements on your own. Detailed pricing is included in our individual trip brochures.

All of our trips include excursions that require passengers to maintain a moderate walking pace, including over uneven surfaces and up and down steps. The trips are designed for adults, though mature teens may share a room with a parent or grandparent. Please contact us if you have questions about the physical requirements of any particular trip.
