To further its mission, the LGBTQ+ Alumni Association needs your support for two important ongoing initiatives: providing life-changing scholarships and offering a “home away from home” for IU LGBTQ+ students.
We award academic scholarships to students, on all IU campuses, based upon their academic achievement and leadership on LGBTQ+ issues. We also award “emergency” scholarship grants to students who have lost financial support from their parents after disclosing their sexual orientation or gender identity, thereby ensuring that those students can continue their IU education.
Additional programs are offered through the LGBTQ+ Culture Center office, which serves as a “home” for countless students, easing their fear and isolation as they face the challenges of accepting their sexual orientation or gender identity.
To advance these important initiatives, we have launched the LGBTQ+ Culture Center office Scholarship Campaign and created the LGBTQ+ Alumni Association Student Program and Scholarship Fund. This campaign, the first of its kind, aims to provide support for IU student scholarships within the IU LGBTQ+ community. The campaign also includes a $50,000 commitment to the LGBTQ+ Culture Center office. We have set a goal of $1 million for this groundbreaking initiative.
As a part of our campaign, we are pleased to announce that we have an anonymous donor who has made a challenge gift of up to $500,000 for every dollar raised. With your help, we will leave a lasting legacy and transform the lives of our students.
Please show your support: Make your tax-deductible gift to the LGBTQ+ Alumni Association Scholarship Campaign today. If you have questions, please contact Mike Shumate at mdshumate@roadrunner.com.
