BS, Business, 1997
I am Jill Maurer Burnett, a Hoosier, born and raised in Indiana. My husband and I met at Indiana University (class of ’97) and now raise our children in Indiana.
For the past 20 years, I have planned and run Mickey’s Camp, a family-founded non-profit organization ($3M raised). Other leadership roles in which I have served include:
- President, Maurer Family Foundation
- Board member, Discovering Broadway
- President, Women for Riley
- Board member, Cancer Support Community
- Board member, Indianapolis Zoo
- Member of Options 8 - CICF organization
- Board member, Hooverwood Living
In 2008, the Maurer family established a scholarship fund that was so transformational, the School of Law was named in my father’s honor. Maurer Scholarships have provided more than 800 law students the financial opportunity to earn a law degree from one of the nation’s top public law schools.
Students on our IU campuses should feel protected, seen and heard by their administration. IU’s high standards should continue to be raised to attract well-rounded, capable students who graduate and impact the world – their time at IU being just the beginning of their success. I will take this responsibility seriously.
For three generations my family has attended IU. I have been passionate about IU my entire life. As an IU alum, parent and supporter, my vision for IU is what everyone’s vision should be for their children: a safe, welcoming environment offering superior education, first class research opportunities and competitive arts and athletics couched in a culture of excellence.
When we say “Indiana, we’re all for you,” that means every student past, present and future. As a trustee, my focus will be to fulfill that promise on our campuses every single day.
