Paul Park is a native of Indiana and currently lives in Boston. He is a global health practitioner and researcher for Partners in Health, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Harvard Medical School. He also practices as an internal medicine physician for the Indian Health Services. Park enjoys karaoke, sports, dancing, and trying to emulate his mom’s Korean food.

Thien Nguyen received a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and a master of public health degree from Boston University. She currently resides in San Francisco and works at a health care non-profit. In her spare time, she loves to do yoga, hike, and travel domestically and internationally.

James Bui was born in Vietnam but moved with his parents to Indiana. He has spent his entire adult career in the medical field. He is currently the chief operations officer for EHOB, a medical equipment manufacturer based in Indianapolis. Bui enjoys the challenges of parenting his two daughters and son while trying to find time to give back to the community as much as he can.

Alyssa de la Rosa is a lifelong Midwesterner trying out life on the West Coast. Currently a master of health administration student at the University of Washington, de la Rosa’s other interests include graphic and interior design, anti-racism education, and hunting for Chick-fil-A and Jollibee restaurants.

Sujata Gopalan is an artist, scientist, and educator. She teaches in the Department of Educational Leadership at Indiana State University.

Eric Langowski

A fourth-generation Japanese American (yonsei) currently in Chicago, Eric Langowski is a data scientist who works on issues of equity in government. A passionate storyteller, Langowski has traveled across the Midwest to share the Japanese American story, including a recently published work on Indiana University’s WWII ban on Japanese American students. He enjoys playing the cello and connecting with other mixed-race Asian Americans.

Daniel Moon

Daniel Moon was raised in Troy, Mich., and currently resides in Des Plaines, a suburb of Chicago. He holds bachelor’s degrees from Loyola University Chicago and Indiana University Fort Wayne. During his time at Loyola, he founded the Korean Student Organization and at IUFW, he served as class president and vice president of Club Seoul. He was also awarded the IPFW Top 50 award for graduating top of his class. Currently, he is the program assistant at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry, where he fabricates dental restorations for students and faculty.

Joon Park is chief operating officer for investment management at Alyeska Investment Group. Previously, he worked for Citadel Investment Group, Merrill Lynch, Deloitte Consulting, and Andersen Consulting. Park graduated with an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and holds two bachelor’s degrees from Indiana University. He is a board member for the executive dean of the College of Arts and Science at IU and also serves on the board of Northwestern’s Kellogg Alumni Council of Chicago.

Originally from Kathmandu, Nepal, Babita Upadhyay has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Hawaii and a master’s degree in education from IU Bloomington. She moved to Bloomington in 2003 and has been associated with IU ever since. She currently works as an academic advisor with The Media School. IU is a big part of her life—her husband teaches there, her daughter attends classes there, and even her dog enjoys walking on the campus.

Khai Yang was born in Vietnam, raised in Indiana, and lives in the Chicago suburbs. She works for Allstate as director of data and analytics strategy and serves on the board of Asian Americans Advancing Justice, Chicago. Yang loves eating ice cream and ramen with her college sweetheart and three kids.

William Yang grew up in Bloomington, having moved there from Taiwan at the age of 2. He now resides in the Pacific Northwest, where he works at Microsoft designing mixed reality experiences. He spends his time haggling with his two boys over screen time, while trying to convince his wife to buy a catamaran to sail to Hawaii. So far, he is failing on both fronts.

Stephanie Nguyen is a doctoral student at Indiana University Bloomington. She has a master’s degree in higher education from Indiana University and a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Notre Dame. Her research interests include Asian American history, higher education administration, faculty governance, and organizational theory.
